Uncovering multiple paths to reach lasting peace in Yemen

Yemeni sources revealed multiple paths that the UN and US envoys to Yemen are working on, in coordination and cooperation with international and regional bodies, to reach a lasting peace agreement in Yemen.

The sources stated that joint committees emanating from the office of the UN envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg, in coordination with international bodies, are working on "economic, developmental, humanitarian, political and military" tracks, in order to reach solutions to the Yemeni crisis, through which the causes are addressed. The main concern of social segments in all regions of Yemen.

The sources indicated that these tracks are being worked on in conjunction with the intensification of contacts and efforts to extend the UN truce within which work is being carried out on these tracks, and a lot has been achieved in the economic, relief, military, social and human rights aspects.

Meanwhile, informed sources expected the arrival of the UN envoy, Hans Grundberg, to Aden to meet the government side, as part of his efforts to extend the armistice.

For his part, the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, renewed his call to the Yemeni parties to extend and expand the truce.

In Taiz, the UN delegation, headed by the military advisor to the UN envoy, General Anthony Hayward, discussed the military measures related to the negotiations to end the siege on the city, in implementation of the previous armistice and preparing the atmosphere for its extension for an additional 6 months.

On the other hand, the Yemeni Presidential Command Council condemned today the Houthi militia's crime against civilians in Taiz, which resulted in the killing of a six-year-old child and the injury of 12 civilians, after the militias bombed a residential neighborhood with artillery shells and missiles.

A Yemeni government report confirmed that 128 civilians were killed and wounded in Taiz by Houthi militia fire since the start of the UN truce.

In Marib, 4 civilians were killed and 6 others were injured as a result of the bombing by the Houthi militia on residential villages in the Harib district, south of the governorate;

In Al-Jawf, a Yemeni citizen named "Mutee' Muhammad Jaber" died as a result of Houthi militia fire in one of the points east of the Al-Hazm district, while a Yemeni human rights observatory announced that five children were injured by the explosion of remnants of war in separate incidents in the governorates of Saada and Hajjah.
