The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the charge d'affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Ankara, against the backdrop of the PKK supporters' propaganda event in the Swedish city of Gothenburg two days ago.

Diplomatic sources said that the Turkish Foreign Ministry informed the Swedish Chargé d'Affairs of Turkey's strong protest against what it described as terrorist propaganda for supporters of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Ankara called on the Swedish government to take concrete steps in line with the commitments stipulated in the tripartite memorandum signed in Madrid between Turkey, Finland and Sweden related to the two countries' accession process to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

After Russia's war on Ukraine, Finland and Sweden applied for NATO membership, but faced opposition from Turkey, which accused them of supporting groups it considers terrorist.

The three countries signed an agreement last month that overturned Ankara's objection to their joining the alliance in exchange for promises related to combating terrorism and arms exports.
