Israeli security forces killed two Palestinians in a shootout in Nablus, West Bank, early Sunday morning.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, six other people were injured.

The extremist Al-Aqsa Brigade of the Fatah party said the dead were its members.

Israeli police said officers came under fire trying to arrest suspects in a home.

"They called someone's name and asked them to surrender," said neighbor Naser Estitja.

"Another crime by the occupying forces in the old city of Nablus, where martyrs fell and others were wounded," tweeted Palestinian official Hussein al-Sheikh.

Israeli security forces have intensified raids in the West Bank in recent months following deadly attacks by Palestinians from the region.
