“In connection with the statement by the WHO Director General on declaring the outbreak of monkeypox a public health emergency of international concern, Rospotrebnadzor informs: today there is no need for additional anti-epidemic measures in Russia,” the department’s website says.

Earlier, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency.

On July 12, the first case of monkeypox was confirmed in Russia.

The disease was detected in a citizen who returned from a trip to Europe.
