Today, Saturday, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence announced the arrest of a network of Israeli Mossad spy agents who planned terrorist operations in sensitive areas inside the country.

The ministry said - in a statement - that the network's elements communicated with officers in the Israeli Mossad through a neighboring country, and entered Iran from the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

She added that Mossad agents were in possession of modern communications devices, powerful explosive materials and weapons, and that investigations are continuing regarding the existence of communications of the spy network inside or outside Iran.

The Ministry of Intelligence did not say how many people were arrested and did not disclose their nationality, but pledged to provide more details at a later time.

Iranian media reported that its security services arrested a network of agents working for Israel, before they could carry out sabotage and "terrorist operations".

There was no immediate comment from Israeli officials.

The disclosure of this operation comes days after US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid signed a joint pledge to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Tehran says its nuclear program is peaceful, and denies seeking nuclear weapons.

Iran accuses Israel of being behind many of the attacks that took place on its soil, such as sabotaging nuclear facilities or the assassination of a number of its prominent scientists in the past years.

And the Iranian authorities often announce the arrests of people linked to the intelligence services of foreign countries, especially the United States and Israel, the archenemy of Iran.

Last April, the official media reported the arrest of 3 people in Sistan-Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran, suspected of being linked to the Mossad, for their involvement in publishing classified classified documents.

In July 2021, the Ministry of Intelligence announced the arrest of "agents" of Israel, and the seizure of weapons intended for use in "riots", following protests in Iran against the backdrop of water scarcity in the southwest of the country.
