To fight against inflation during the holidays, French people have opted for the following solution: boat rental.

And it turns out it's a growing market.

Specialized platforms record increases of up to more than 70%.

And everyone finds their account.

With boat rental, there is something for everyone: the owner who rents and amortizes his costs and the tenant, who enjoys a day at sea at a moderate cost.

A good compromise for purchasing power, at worst due to the economic crisis, which is reflected in the figures: the SamBoat platform has thus seen its reservations take off by 28% since 2021. Rental is a way of doing pleasure at a lower cost as Romain does every summer in the Arcachon basin.

"A boat is expensive, so it's much more profitable to rent than to buy one," he says.

Same observation for Vincent: he already has three rentals planned this summer in different places.

"I like to discover the different regions, the different coves, especially on different types of navigation", he pleads at the microphone of Europe 1. "If we buy a boat, we are restricted to our own boat and its navigation."

The French anticipate their holidays

A godsend for boat owners like Marie-Laure.

She rents her sailboat to individuals on the Click&Boat platform and every summer, she reimburses her 3,000 euros in annual maintenance costs thanks to reservations.

"This year, we were full every weekend in June. We have a lot of requests for the month of September already. People are doing it in advance."

On the Click & Boat platform, reservations have increased by 71% compared to last year - and summer is not over yet...
