A Japanese furniture maker has announced that it will commercialize a 'stand-up sleeping box' to improve the productivity of office workers who are tired of work.

According to foreign media such as the Asahi Shimbun recently, Japanese office furniture maker Itoki has signed a technical cooperation contract with a plywood supplier and is planning to develop an 'upright sleeping box'.

If you look at the published virtual images, the sleeping box is a space that can fit one adult, and supports are installed to lean on the head, hips, and knees.

According to the company, the sleeping box is ergonomically designed, has a structure that is comfortable for standing or sleeping, and does not take up much space.

The company said that it is planning to launch the product within one year, saying that more and more companies are paying attention to the productivity improvement of their employees through breaks such as naps.

An official from Itoki said, "I thought I needed a more comfortable resting space as I saw office workers locked up in the bathroom," and explained that the sleeping box allows workers to sleep in the office without being noticed.

Japanese netizens who saw this commented, "I wish it was installed in the commuter train rather than the office", "It's like a cleaning tool box", "I think it'd be nice to go in and rest for a while when it's hard", "Is it because I'm too sleepy, so I purposely made it stand up to sleep", "I don't think there's enough space" It is narrow, so it would be uncomfortable if several people use it."
