The Italian foil fencers beat the Americans 45 to 27 in the final, the first title for transalpine fencing at these Worlds-2022.
The bronze medal went to France.
Before the last day of competition on Saturday, the French team totals six medals, including four gold after the title won on Friday thanks to its men's epee team.
The French, title holders since 2019 (the world championships were canceled during the pandemic, editor's note) and carried by Romain Cannone, crowned individual world champion on Tuesday, beat their big Italian rivals in the final 45 to 42.
Since the Tokyo Olympics last summer, French epee fencers have raided the medals at major events with an individual Olympic title for Romain Cannone, the European title for Yannick Borel and a team bronze medal at the of the European Championships last month, before Cairo's golden double.
