UK Johnson challenges the EU and 'rewrites' the Ireland Protocol
The European Commission (EC) launched this Friday
four new infringement procedures
against the United Kingdom for breaching "significant" parts of the Irish protocol included in the Brexit agreement to prevent the appearance of a physical border between the Republic of Ireland and Ireland from North.
"Despite repeated calls from the European Parliament, the 27 member states and the European Commission to implement the protocol (on Northern Ireland), the UK has not done so," the Commission said in a statement.
Brussels took this step after on June 15 it already reactivated a sanctioning process against the United Kingdom, which had been paralyzed to leave room for negotiation, and launched two more files
after the British Government promoted a law to unilaterally modify what was agreed
for Northern Ireland in the agreement to leave the European Union.
