The answer below:

news of the day

This Friday was announced as a great day for cereals.

It did not fail.

From Istanbul, kyiv and Moscow ended up signing, with Turkey and the UN, the agreement unblocking the export of Ukrainian cereals to the Black Sea.

The two countries signed two identical but separate texts, at the request of Ukraine, which refused to initial any document with Russia.

This agreement, fiercely negotiated since April, will relieve the countries dependent on the Russian and Ukrainian markets -30% of the world wheat trade between them.

It will be valid for "120 days", or four months, the time to take out the approximately 25 million tonnes piled up in silos in Ukraine as a new harvest approaches.

“Secure corridors” will allow the circulation of merchant ships in the Black Sea, which the two parties have pledged not to attack.

The phrase

Russian forces have turned the occupied areas of southern Ukraine into an abyss of fear and savage anarchy.

»

This Friday, Human Rights Watch accused Moscow of torture, detention and abduction in the regions of Kherson and Zaporijjia, in southern Ukraine, partially controlled by the Russian army.

The NGO states that it has interviewed more than 70 Ukrainians having described more than 40 cases of abuse and documented the torture of three members of the Ukrainian territorial defense, who were made prisoners of war and two of whom died.

The number

39,000.

This would be the number of soldiers lost by Russia since the start of the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, according to

 The Kyiv Independent

, citing Ukrainian authorities.

Still according to the latter, Russia would also have lost 1,704 tanks, 3,920 armored vehicles, 221 planes, 713 drones, 15 boats…

These are the indicative estimates of Russia's combat losses as of July 22, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On Thursday, the American and British intelligence agencies estimated the number of Russian soldiers dead in Ukraine since the start of the war at 15,000.

The trend

It is paradoxical... Because, if on Friday, Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, described as "unprecedented" the agreement signed by kyiv and Moscow on the grain crisis, this did not prevent, at the same time, the continued shelling in Ukraine.

Clashes are taking place around Kharkiv, Ukraine's second city, as well as in the south-east for control of the Black Sea shores and, between these two regions, on all the hot spots on the front.

In the Donetsk region, the unofficial capital of the Donbass region, at the heart of the conflict, the Ukrainian presidency recorded this Friday again “five people killed and 10 injured in the last 24 hours”.
