“The Investigative Committee of Russia in the urban district of Mytishchi opened a criminal case on the fact of the negligence of officials exercising powers within the framework of state control on the territory of the Moscow Region, which led to the injury of a two-year-old girl as a result of an attack by a monkey,” the ministry said in a statement.

It is noted that officials did not check the conditions of keeping animals in a private zoo in the village of Terpigorievo, as a result of which the monkey ran to a neighboring site and attacked the child.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office of the Moscow region reported that in Mytishchi a monkey attacked a girl on the street, an investigation is underway.

According to the regional Ministry of Health, the girl who suffered as a result of the monkey attack is in serious condition.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of causing grievous bodily harm.
