The tiger has been listed as endangered since 1996, but despite a growing population, the status of tigers is not changing.

- This is because the number of tigers has decreased between 53-68 percent in the last 30 years.

In 2010, WWF held a summit on tigers in St Petersburg.

- There they set the goal that during the year of the tiger (2022) the population should reach 6,000. We are not quite there yet, but we are a bit on the way, says Craig Hilton-Taylor.

"Gives hope"

He emphasizes that the situation for many of the earth's species is acute, but also wants to highlight glimmers of light.

- It gives people hope and contributes with solutions for the survival of other species, he says.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red list includes 147,517 species, of which 41,459 are threatened with extinction.

In the clip above, you will hear about some species that are showing signs of regrowth.
