The answer below:

news of the day

The latest episode in the Russian-Western energy standoff, Russia restarted the Nord Stream gas pipeline on Thursday, which directly links the Siberian gas fields to northern Germany, after a ten-day shutdown for maintenance work, according to Moscow.

"It works," a spokesman for the Nord Stream company told AFP, without however specifying the quantity of gas being delivered.

Russia has therefore partially reopened the gas tap to Europe, but without removing uncertainties about the continuation of deliveries, fueling fears of an energy crisis in the EU this winter.

Russian gas is therefore well back, but only at 40% of its capacity, as before the maintenance, according to data published by the German network operator.

The phrase

Come on, let's stop.

You don't have to go any further.

Further on is the precipice.

Further, it is nuclear war.

It shouldn't go that far."

This not very reassuring sentence was launched by Alexander Lukashenko.

In an exclusive interview with AFP, the Belarusian president, and Moscow's main ally, accused the Europeans and Americans on Thursday of encouraging kyiv to fight.

The Central Bank of Ukraine announced on Thursday the devaluation of the national currency, the hryvnia, by 25% against the dollar due to the impact of the Russian invasion on the national economy.

The trend

Still so unreassuring.

kyiv claimed that the Russians were storing heavy weapons and ammunition "in the immediate vicinity" of sensitive installations on the site of the nuclear power plant occupied since March in Zaporizhia, the largest in Europe, alarming itself of a risk of accidental explosion and fire.

For its part, Moscow mentioned raids by Ukrainian drones on Monday, "a few tens of meters from structures vital to the safety of the plant", then again on Wednesday.
