Reuters said that the US authorities are considering banning all Huawei products from entering the United States, due to concerns that it obtains sensitive military information through its communications equipment and transfers it to China.

Reuters added that the administration of President Joe Biden is considering banning all Huawei products from entering the United States, due to concerns that the company obtained sensitive information through American communications towers that carry the company's equipment.

She added that this came after an American investigation into the work of towers belonging to the Chinese company "Huawei" near military bases and missile platforms inside America.

US authorities are concerned that Huawei may obtain sensitive data about military exercises and state of readiness, according to one of the sources, who asked not to be identified because the investigation is classified and involves national security information.

The previously unreported investigation was opened shortly after Joe Biden took office early last year.

The US Commerce Department said it could neither confirm nor deny ongoing investigations, stressing that protecting people and their security against malicious information is vital to protecting our economy and national security.

Penalties and bans

Last October, the US Senate unanimously passed a law to tighten restrictions on Chinese telecom companies, including the giant telecommunications group "Huawei".

The law prohibits the FCC from examining or licensing new equipment from five major Chinese telecommunications companies, which it has deemed "a threat to US national security."

Chinese companies include telecom giants Huawei and ZTE, as well as Dahua, Hytera and Hikvision.

The newspaper "The Hill" said that the law aims to protect the communications infrastructure from external threats, and to take strict measures against the use of equipment of Chinese telecom companies, which is a threat to national security.

Washington, especially during the era of former President Donald Trump, imposed many sanctions on Chinese companies, including Huawei, because of what it described at the time as "its connection with the ruling Communist Party."

In August 2020, the US Department of Commerce imposed sanctions on Huawei and 38 of its subsidiaries, with the aim of limiting its access to US technologies.
