Today, Wednesday, the Israeli occupation army arrested a freed prisoner and wounded a young man during night raids in the Hebron and Bethlehem governorates (south of the West Bank).

Anadolu Agency correspondent reported that an Israeli army force arrested a Hamas leader, Nayef Rajoub, from his home in Dura, southwest of Hebron.

Muhammad, Rajoub's son, told the agency that an Israeli force surrounded his father's house at dawn, then stormed it and took the father away, without explaining the reason for the arrest.

Israel released Rajoub on January 18 after an 8-month administrative detention.

Nayef is the brother of Jibril Rajoub, a member of the Central Committee of the "Fatah" movement. He was previously elected to the Legislative Council as a representative of the "Hamas" movement, which won the last elections held in 2006, and served as the Minister of Endowments.

In Bethlehem, a medical source at Beit Jala Governmental Hospital told Anadolu Agency that a Palestinian youth who was shot by the occupation army arrived at the hospital on Wednesday morning.

The source, preferring not to be named, added that the victim entered the operating room, noting that the bullet penetrated the chest and exited from the victim's back, without details of his health condition.

For its part, the official Palestinian news agency "Wafa" quoted a security source as saying that an Israeli force stormed the Dheisheh refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, and clashes erupted with the civilians, during which the soldiers fired bullets, tear gas and sound bombs, and this resulted in the injury of a young man with live bullets.

According to the agency, the occupation army arrested 4 Palestinians from the camp, and 3 others from the town of Dura in Hebron.

In turn, the occupation army said, in a statement, that its forces carried out "preemptive and preventive" operations in several areas in the West Bank.

He added that those forces were pelted with stones and Molotov cocktails in the town of Abu Dis (east of Jerusalem) and the Dheisheh camp;
