In the US, 100 million people are in areas exposed to what experts call "hazardous temperatures", the Horn of Africa has suffered the worst water shortage in 40 years, in Iran and Iraq temperatures close to 50 degrees Celsius have been measured and China is in a several weeks long period of heat.
