SMHI has issued both an orange and a yellow warning for high temperatures in southern Sweden.

The affected areas are primarily inner and eastern Götaland, inner Svealand, Gotland County and southeastern Norrland.

The warnings are issued by SMHI at extra high temperatures which can mean a great increased strain on the body, especially for risk groups - the sick, the elderly and children.

Warm air from the south

According to Sandra Fyrstedt, the temperatures are due to the fact that the warm air from southern parts of the continent is now moving towards Sweden.

- The last few days it has been in the UK and now this warm air also comes to us in Sweden and gives these really high temperatures today and tomorrow, she says.

The heat is expected to subside on Friday.
