“On July 20, 2022, at about 10:10 p.m., Russian air defense systems detected unmanned aerial vehicles approaching the area of the Russian Khmeimim air base from the northeast,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
The department noted that Russian air defense systems destroyed two drones of militants two kilometers from the air base.
There were no injuries or material damage recorded, the Khmeimim air base is functioning as planned.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry released a final statement saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian leader Ibrahim Raisi and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, following talks in Tehran on July 19, confirmed their intention to fight terrorists in Syria.
