China is very concerned about the US-led semiconductor alliance that I just reported.

As China regards the semiconductor industry as a key strategic industry and an important winner in the competition for hegemony between the United States and China, the sense of crisis is high, and it is especially wary of Korea.

This is Beijing Correspondent Ji-Sung Kim.

Briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

When a Chinese reporter asked, 'How do you see the US requesting South Korea to participate in the semiconductor alliance?', a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded as if waiting

[Zhao Lijian / Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: It goes against the flow, and it will not win public opinion and will eventually end in failure.]

The Chinese state media asked a question and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered, clearly opposing Korea's participation in the semiconductor alliance.

The state-run Global Times took a more blatant check.

On the 18th, he said, "Korea's participation in the semiconductor alliance has more harm than good," and again, "Korea has been fully integrated into China's industrial network over the past 10 years."

It is a kind of warning message that if South Korea turns its back on the Chinese market, the damage will be great.

China, which is focusing its efforts on nurturing the semiconductor industry with the slogan of 'increasing the semiconductor industry', is also in desperate need of cooperation with Korea.

This is why we are concerned about South Korea joining the US-led semiconductor alliance.

Taiwan's inclusion in the semiconductor alliance is also inconvenient for China.

[Moon Il-hyeon/Professor of China University of Political Science and Law: China recognized Taiwan as a sovereign state by the semiconductor alliance itself, which is a direct violation of the 'one China' principle.

] Coincidentally, the end of the month following the request to inform whether or not to participate coincides with August 24, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and China.

In the midst of this, foreign minister Park Jin will visit China next month and hold talks with the Chinese foreign minister.

This is the first high-level visit to China under the new government, and the task is to make a difficult choice between the United States and China.
