Yemeni diplomatic sources said that international pressure is being exerted against the Houthi militia to accept the extension of the UN armistice for a new period of 6 months, and to complete the implementation of the previous armistice provisions, especially with regard to opening roads in Taiz and other Yemeni governorates.

According to the sources, there are international and European efforts, which followed the US and regional moves, to pressure the Houthis to implement the terms of the UN truce with regard to the Taiz roads, pay salaries, and move towards extending the armistice and establishing peace in Yemen, according to the three references.

The European Union had called on the Yemeni parties to accept an additional extension of the truce for an additional six months, stressing the need for the Houthis to commit to opening roads as a critical humanitarian component of the truce.

 "The European Union deeply regrets the Houthis' rejection of the latest proposal by the United Nations Special Envoy to reopen the road, particularly around Taiz, along with fuel shipments through the port of Hodeidah and commercial flights to and from Sanaa," said a statement by the spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Peter Stano.

A diplomatic source said that the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, will start in the coming days a new tour in the region to hold talks to extend the armistice.

The Yemeni Foreign Minister, Ahmed bin Mubarak, discussed with the US ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin the developments in Yemen, in light of the continued intransigence of the Houthi militia and the failure to implement its commitments regarding the armistice, while the US ambassador affirmed his country’s support for Yemen and its support for a peaceful solution, ending the war and maintaining the unity of the country. and security and stability in Yemen.

On the ground, the joint forces on the western coast of Yemen thwarted an attack by drones launched by the Houthi militia on the positions of the forces and civilian objects, south of Hodeidah and west of Taiz, confirming the registration of 41 Houthi violations of the armistice on the fronts of the western coast, during the past few hours.

The military media of the joint forces reported that the air defenses managed to shoot down a Houthi offensive march in the sky of the liberated areas in the Hays district, south of Hodeidah.

In Sanaa, a civilian was killed and four others were injured in a mine explosion left by the Houthi militia in the Nihm district, northeast of the capital.

In Taiz, a woman was shot by a sniper belonging to the Houthi militia, which is stationed in the hilltop of the century on the western front of the city.
