“Despite the fact that the European Commission decided to revise its own sanctions, they (Lithuania) revised only in terms of railway transit,” Interfax quoted him as saying.
Alikhanov said that the Lithuanian side, in accordance with the decision of the EC, must adopt "some of its own internal regulations and standards"
“We are proceeding from the fact that this should happen this week,” he said.
The governor noted that such information passes through contacts with chargé d'affaires through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He expressed the hope that this will happen in the near future.
Alikhanov specified that the Kaliningrad authorities, with the support of the Russian government, will continue to seek the abolition of all restrictions on transit, including by road.
Earlier, Alikhanov said that within the next few days the first trains through Lithuania with goods on which the European Union imposed sanctions could go to the region.
On July 13, the European Commission announced that rail transit to Kaliningrad is allowed subject to the control of goods.
