Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority have warned of financial fraud on individuals' banking data through fake messages via phone and the Internet, and identified signs of fraud, including the fraudster claiming to be a friend, requesting a transfer of funds to help him solve a problem, or impersonating the fraudster as a bank employee. Or otherwise, requesting personal and financial data, claiming to win a bogus prize, requesting to send a sum of money to transfer it, as well as attempts to persuade victims to donate for humanitarian cases, or having a mail shipment that requires payment of a sum of money to be delivered, or freezing the account and bank card, due to not updating the data , or through offers of goods and services at low prices, or a request to transfer funds to obtain a work contract, and others.

During the past years, police authorities revealed that a number of people had committed financial fraud, due to the lack of caution, as they enabled the fraudsters to obtain the secret numbers of bank cards and OTP, and then money was stolen from them.

The Abu Dhabi Digital Authority warned of the danger of disclosing personal and financial information to unknown persons, as the fraudsters' request for this data is one of the evidence that it is a fraud aimed at seizing the victims' money.

She explained that the fraudster is trying to urge the victim to take immediate action in transferring the money to others.

For his part, the Director of the Electronic Extortion Branch at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Investigations in Abu Dhabi Police, Major Engineer Sultan Ahmed Al Sharif, stated that electronic fraud crimes continue to spread and develop with time, and there are electronic links claiming to provide services at symbolic prices, and defrauding people by taking much more than expected amounts through Stealing money from a credit card.

Abu Dhabi Police warned individuals against falling victim to fraud, demanding not to disclose their bank accounts and credit card numbers, noting that perpetrators of these crimes delude the victim that his accounts or bank cards have been blocked or frozen for the purpose of seizing his money.
