“We are on the European path and thought that freedom of movement and the free flow of people is the greatest European freedom,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Vučić noted that he is the first Serbian leader who decided to visit Jasenovac, thereby "paying tribute" to all the victims of the concentration camp.

He stressed that he did not understand the reasons for such an attitude on the part of Croatia.

Croatian authorities have previously banned Vučić from visiting the former World War II concentration camp as well as the Jasenovac memorial center in private.

The Serbian Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to Croatia.
