The initiative is part of Timrå Library's children's convention work, which started in 2020. What they learned from a conversation with children was that Timrå's children and young people did not seem to have much knowledge of the library's activities.

- We saw that there was a need for the library to come out more, work more outwardly and be flexible, says Christina Sundnäs.

"Good to read for free"

One bookcase is in Ljustorp, by the car park outside the store and Ljustorps bygdegård and the other is by the mini golf course at Fagerstranden.

There you can borrow a book, read it and then put it back.

- I think it is very good because people can read a little for free instead of buying books, says Maximilian Saastamoinen, who is testing the concept with the bookcases together with his brother.

Hear the children's thoughts about the bookshelves and librarian Christina Sundnäs talk about the investment in the clip above.
