The stepfather was indicted for murder of a minor under the age of 15 but also for violence by a person in authority.

The mother was indicted for violence, deprivation of care and failure to assist a person in danger.

This couple living in Guingamp (Côtes-d'Armor) is suspected of having killed their 3-year-old child on Sunday July 10 at the family home.

Both were remanded in custody.

The child had been found inanimate in his room by his mother who had tried in vain to resuscitate him.

According to the examinations carried out at the Forensic Institute of Rennes, the child is "probably" dead "as a result of a head trauma," said the prosecution.

Unsanitary housing according to the authorities

The mother of the child, aged 22, and her 29-year-old companion, heard under police custody by the gendarmes of Guingamp, were not "able to explain the circumstances of the death of the child", according to the same source.

“The findings made in the accommodation” have “highlighted an advanced state of unsanitary condition of the latter”, also specified the prosecution.
