Israeli Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi said that Tel Aviv is preparing to deal with all scenarios regarding Iran's nuclear program, following the statements of an Iranian official that his country has the technical capabilities to manufacture a nuclear bomb, and that it has conducted maneuvers to strike at the depth of Israel.
Kochavi added that preparing a military option against the Iranian nuclear program is a moral duty and an important matter for national security, as he put it.
He pointed out that "moving militarily against the Iranian nuclear project is at the core of our preparations and includes various practical plans."
The head of the Strategic Council for Foreign Policies in Iran, Kamal Kharazi, revealed to Al-Jazeera that his country has the technical capabilities to manufacture a nuclear bomb, and that it has conducted extensive maneuvers with the aim of striking Israel's depth in the event that "our sensitive facilities are targeted."
Kharazi stressed that there is no decision in his country to manufacture a nuclear bomb despite the presence of the technical capabilities necessary for that.
Kharazi said that Israel is in a phase of weakness, and US President Joe Biden's support for it will not bring it back to the fore, and that "targeting our security from neighboring countries will be met with a response to these countries and a direct response to Israel."
Regarding negotiations with the United States of America over the nuclear program, he said that it is difficult to conduct a direct dialogue with Washington in light of a thick wall of mistrust and American policies.
Kharazi welcomed Saudi Arabia's statements about extending a hand of friendship to Iran, and said that Tehran is ready for dialogue and restore relations with Riyadh to normal, noting that Iran and Saudi Arabia are important regional countries, and resolving their differences will lead to a regional transformation.
The leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the United States called - at the conclusion of the Jeddah Security and Development Summit, which was held the past two days in Saudi Arabia, in the presence of US President Joe Biden - Iran to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency to keep the region free of weapons of mass destruction.
The caretaker prime minister, Yair Lapid, said he made it clear to President Biden and his team that Israel opposes the nuclear deal with Iran.
Lapid added - at the beginning of his cabinet meeting - that he had also informed the US president that Israel reserves the full right to freedom of action in confronting the Iranian nuclear project.
