An area in Väståparken in Örebro was cordoned off on Sunday after a suspected grenade was fished up from the depths of Svartån.

- We can not fully confirm that it is a grenade, we have taken pictures and then the bomb squad has their say, said Martin Johansson, police assistant on site.

It was Örebro bottom scraping association that organized today's fishing.

Chairman Mikael Larsson was present when the find was made.

"It's something that can happen when you magnetically fish, that you pick up old grenades, ammunition and such from the bottom," he said.

Today's suspicious grenade was fished up from a raft, which made the safety routines that otherwise exist more difficult.

- Now it became a little special.

We had to go to the edge and lay it.

Otherwise you just have to put down the object, measure and take photos and call the police.

The bomb squad was called in

The police bomb squad has been called to the scene, which is still cordoned off.

- They're still there.

Hopefully it will be clear soon, said police officer Jan Materne at 17:00 on Sunday.

Shortly afterwards, the police announced that the roadblocks had been lifted, and that the suspected grenade had been carried on for further investigation and possible destruction.
