A large-scale smuggling procession has been detected near the Rio Grande River, which forms the border between the United States and Mexico.

According to a video recorded on the 13th (local time) of the Rio Grande River in Eagle Pass, Texas, USA, hundreds of people jumped into the river in a line.

The video also shows children holding their parents' hands and jumping into the river.

The videographer, who is believed to be an employee of the Border Guard, said, "Maybe (the number of smugglers) will break the all-time record. It's absolutely ridiculous."

According to the Texas Regional Border Surveillance Bureau, the number of smugglers arrested in five areas along the U.S.-Mexico border during the 6 days from July 4 to 9 reached 26,000.

However, if you include those who crossed the border without being arrested, the actual figure is estimated to be double.

The massive border crossing occurred while Texas Governor Greg Abbott was taking tough measures against smuggling.

Governor Abbott recently signed an executive order to arrest and return illegal immigrants.

Governor Abbott and Republican politicians have criticized the Biden administration for failing to protect the southwest border, citing a surge in illegal immigration in May that undermines the government's immigration policy.

Previously, in May, the number of illegal immigrants who crossed the border into the United States in one month recorded 239,416, a record high.
