The situation is "still unfavorable" in Gironde where firefighters have been facing two forest fires since Tuesday which have ravaged at least 7,300 hectares in La Teste-de-Buch and Landiras.

In the latter town, the fire has not progressed in recent hours, a sign of a slight improvement, even if caution is in order.

In Landiras, the Bordeaux prosecutor's office announced this Friday afternoon "favored the criminal thesis".

On the front of the field, the fire has not progressed in recent hours.

The figure remains the same, 4,700 hectares destroyed on this single fire.

This shows that the strategy of the last few hours, with retarding, counter-fires to create a barrier in front of the fire and the competition of the three canadairs on the flanks, worked.

Residents still not allowed to return home

On the other hand, the bad news is that the wind has turned: it is now pushing the flames to the west, which has forced the evacuation of new homes, as Vincent Ferrier explains.

“We are starting to evacuate the town of Louchats, so it is around 600 more people who we are evacuating, because we have a progression of the fire which moves a little depending on the period, but which left more on the west side", deciphers the sub-prefect of Langon.

"We remind you not to come back. We do not authorize returns to the evacuated sectors, even those which may seem a little less exposed. As we speak, we have structures to accommodate. We are increasing our capacity to whenever we need it to welcome the populations", he adds, even if he remains suspicious.

"Overall, what we can say is that we have a slower progression, even if here we are at the most critical hours of the day, the hottest hours and the one that has the more wind".

The area under high surveillance tonight

A house located in the heart of the area was partially destroyed by the flames.

And now, we will have to be very vigilant until nightfall since it was there, yesterday, that the situation deteriorated very quickly.
