The G20 Finance Summit opens in Bali, Indonesia, this Friday, July 15, for two days under the sign of discord.

The representatives of Russia and Ukraine, countries in conflict, will take part in the debates remotely.

For the United States, which had boycotted the previous G20 meeting to protest against the presence of Russia, Moscow bears the main responsibility for the crises that the world economy is going through today.

Already shaken up last week during the summit of foreign ministers over the blockade of Ukrainian grain and the reduction of gas flows, the Russian delegation is on a low level: this time, only the deputy finance minister and an official of the Russian Central Bank are on the trip. 

Minimum service also for most Western delegations who accuse Moscow of being solely responsible for the current crises with the war launched against Ukraine.

While on the European side, states prepare to announce a new round of sanctions aimed at Moscow, far from Bali,

in Istanbul, diplomatic efforts continue to release the cereals blocked

in Ukrainian ports and which usually feed the stocks of developing countries . 

Like a helpless spectator, the Indonesian Minister of Finance recalled in his opening speech that concrete solutions must be found to respond to the rise in food insecurity.

But in view of the disagreements, even the publication of a final press release was questioned on Friday July 15.
