Climbing up to a roof along a thin, rusty ladder to paint is not something you should do if you are afraid of heights.

But it is only in the distance that you see if the colors intersect, so therefore Carolina Falkholt and Rebecca Niska have to climb up and down several times a day.

Equivocal word in three languages

Only from a distance can you also see that what is written on the municipal building along Konstens väg is an equivocal word.

That is, if you understand Meänkieli, Finnish or Sami, on which the word is written.

- I am interested in words, language and gender identity, says graffiti artist Carolina Falkholt who is the mastermind behind the artwork.

Has 30 years of experience

Writing the word "pussy" on a municipal building would have been illegal maybe thirty years ago.

But the project is in collaboration with Övertorneå municipality on the initiative of the contractor Karl-Gustav Niska.

The artist Carolina Falkholt has 30 years of experience and tells how it started.

- It was sad to grow up.

You had to do a lot of stuff, go to school.

Then you could spray instead, at your school, says Carolina Falkholt.

Young and poor - stole color from car dealerships

In the beginning, she stole paint from car dealerships and used it as a graffiti paint, because it was the cheapest option.

- I was young and poor but wanted to paint.

"Positive graffiti development"

Last year, Tim Timmey and Marian Doe painted the back of the grandstand facade at the sports field in Övertorneå.

When motorists pass, they are met by the text "Övertorneå" above the tall grass.

Now they paint colorful birds along the grandstand wall on Övertorneå's sports field and think that the graffiti development is positive.

- It has definitely become more accepted, says Tim Timmey.
