This week, temperatures will once again pass the 35 degree mark.

The high temperatures of the moment are a good reason for the French to go to the cinemas and in front of the big screen when the thermometer panics to take advantage, among other things, of the air conditioning. 

While the heat wave has affected the country since the beginning of the week, the French take refuge in cinemas.

for the script and for the freshness of their neighborhood cinema.

"This allows us to take advantage of the air conditioning which will also allow us to relax in a cooler atmosphere", he explains.

"It's a good compromise to share a moment with your child in the cool"

At the start of the school holidays, Florence, 36, also prefers to spend an afternoon in front of the big screen with her 7-year-old daughter.

"After a small restaurant, here we are at the cinema in the cool for the preview of Ducobu President", she says, holding her daughter by the hand.

"I couldn't see myself going to the park or to the lodge party in this weather so the cinema is a good compromise to share a moment with your child in the cool."

One million more spectators during a heat wave

"We tend to think that attendance is higher during rainy days or bad weather," explains Marc-Olivier Sebbag, general delegate of the national federation of French cinema.

"But in reality, it is during the hot weather that people take refuge in cinemas, known for their freshness."

Heat is the number one aid to cinema attendance according to the numbers.

"Last weekend, we made 2 and a half million. There, we expect attendance to rise to three, or even three and a half million entries in France", underlines Eric Marti, general manager of Comscore Movies.

The continuation of the heat wave, announced for a period of 10 days, should help to improve the figures.
