Saudi Arabia: Monkeypox infection detected for a returnee from abroad

Yesterday, Thursday, the Saudi Ministry of Health announced the detection of a case of monkeypox in the city of Riyadh for a person returning from outside the Kingdom.

The ministry stated that the case is subject to medical care in accordance with the approved health procedures, and all contacts were counted, and none of them showed symptoms.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Ministry confirmed its continuation of monitoring and follow-up work on the developments of monkeypox disease and announcing in full transparency about any cases that are monitored, indicating its readiness and ability to deal with any development of the disease.

The Saudi Ministry of Health recommended that everyone follow health instructions, especially during travel, through its official channels, as well as the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) or contact the (937) center in case of any inquiry regarding monkeypox disease.

And in the previous month of May, the Public Health Authority called on anyone who shows a rash after developing a high temperature, especially in the event of returning from travel within the past 21 days, to isolate himself until consulting a doctor.

Symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph glands, fatigue, back pain, and rashes one to three days after infection, which begins in the face and spreads to the rest of the body, according to the authority.
