• Successes Karlos Arguiñano: from bordering on ruin to having a personal wealth of three million

  • Kitchens Alberto Chicote, a 'rich rich' grandfather, hardworking and disciplined who loses the sweet

For years, it has been said that

Bush hates broccoli,

that

Queen

Elizabeth is addicted

to

scones

, that

Hollande

does not like cheese

in her diet, and that

Angela Merkel

values

a good table more than anything.

However, few can substantiate such claims.

What's more, it is likely that only

25 chefs,

in the whole world, can know the truth... And they all

meet,

year after year, in a particular

club

.

It is about Chefs des Chefs, an association that brings together the 25 "most top" chefs of

heads of state

and that, this week, it has met in Madrid to celebrate its annual summit, in addition to a solidarity gala -for the benefit of the NGO World Central Kitchen-, at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz hotel.

The menu -whose cost amounted to

350 euros per person-

featured a starter of duck foie grass with lemon confit, an organic shrimp from Madagascar, a supreme crispy poultry with crustacean juice, an important selection of cheeses and a dessert creamy chocolate with roasted pineapple, which was prepared by four of the 19 chefs in attendance:

Fabrice Desvingnes

, Emmanuel

Macron

's chef ,

Christian Garcia

,

Grimaldi

family chef

Willem Pieter Van Dreumel

, from the

Netherlands

, and

José Roca, who has been in

Moncloa

for more than 40 years .

That is to say, Roca has been cooking for the seven presidents.

However, he is very discreet when it comes to talking about them...

Pedro Sánchez spends 64,700 euros in the gardens of Moncloa

Pedro Sánchez spends 64,700 euros in the gardens of Moncloa

The reason?

Chefs like him

must "know everything and tell very little",

due to bonds of trust and various non-

disclosure

agreements .

Despite this, the cook agreed to talk with LOC, in order to publicize his vast experience.

"I started working when I was 18 years old and

I have worked with all the presidents of the democracy.

Although during Calvo Sotelo's time I was little, but I have been with all the presidents.

Even with Suárez,

when there was an attack with a kind of mortar, a bomb, which fell very close... I was in the kitchen and I heard 'boom!'. 'What a thunderstorm it has fallen,' I said to my colleagues... And a very big one had been involved," he explained to then refer -always in good terms- to their bosses.

"All the Spanish presidents

have enjoyed gastronomy

. Except

Suárez, who did not eat much,

because he had difficult times. But they all ate very well. I cannot tell you much, but most of them liked it or like it."

traditional Spanish food,

which always triumphs. It is the richness that we have here... Although, sometimes, we also put things that are not ours and we also triumph", he commented.

In fact, according to Roca, in Moncloa there are days when they even

eat hot dogs and chips.

But it is not usual.

"Sometimes, we do special days. For example,

an American day.

But, in general, you try to eat a balanced diet.

We always try to make

the healthiest food possible,"

he said.

And is there anyone giving you headaches inside the presidential palace?

Neither Roca nor his six-person team would dare speak ill of

his 20 diners.

But he does recognize that, on occasion,

someone has refused him a dish.

"We always try to play it safe, but it has happened that, on occasion, I have done something and when I went up to talk, they told me

'don't put this on anymore'.

But it is not that complicated, not even with the visits Because protocol comes, they tell you their

limitations

- religious, for example - and we base ourselves on that. In addition, you always know that so-and-so, who usually frequents Moncloa, does not take this and simply does not put it on him, "he said.

However, those are problems that Roca has never had with Pedro Sánchez, with whom he maintains a close relationship.

"He is a very affable man, who eats well and is also very grateful.

As chefs, we love when we get comments like 'he said that this was great' and, in this case, that is very much appreciated," he said.

Who is also "an excellent boss" is

Alberto de Monaco

who, according to the Grimaldi chef, is "a great gourmet".

"It is very easy to work for the prince, because

he always likes good food,"

said Christian Garcia.

García - whose family has Spanish roots - has

been working for the well-known princely family for 35 years

and only has good words for everyone.

"I work very comfortably, with

a team of four people,

for the prince and princess. Sometimes we only prepare food for the two of them, and other times for 300 people. And when that happens, we call

students from cooking schools ,

they come to the Palace and the prince always comes to greet them. And in terms of gastronomic diversity, we try to prepare

all kinds of food.

We are not like restaurants that renew their public day by day, we always have the same customers and, therefore,

we must be creative

and draw inspiration from foreign countries," he said.

According to the chef, he really likes to prepare

fish

and traditional Monegasque food, "which is a mix between French and Italian cuisine."

But, motivated by chef José Roca, García has learned to

include dishes such as paella, rice with cuttlefish and prawns

on the

royals

' menu ... And he has been successful.

"The Grimaldi family loves Spanish food!"

he exclaimed.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, in a restaurant in Rome.GTRES

Like

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron,

who, according to Guillaume Gomez -the former head chef of the Elysée Palace and current ambassador of French gastronomy- could be fans of preparations such as

the Cerdanya carving

or the Aranese pot.

"I don't know if you know, but

the president has family in the Pyrenees,

so he really likes the cuisine there," he declared.

Despite this, Gomez avoids saying whether he, as the son of an Andalusian immigrant, has delighted Macron (or Hollande, Sarkozy or Chirac) with

a good gazpacho.

And it is that he does strictly comply with the code of "you cannot talk about the preferences of the presidents."

However, he does dare to confess that

his taste for Spanish products

-such as cheese, ham and wine- has crossed borders, so now he will take a "big suitcase" with products for his friends.

"I will take

a black leg, a little Manchego, a little olive,

Rioja red and Rioja white and a bottle of Jerez del Fundador", he revealed... Although we will know if Macron will drink that brandy.
