• Congress Sánchez obtains the green light for the Democratic Memory Law agreed with Bildu

  • Politics The PP facilitates with its abstention the validation of the second anti-crisis decree

EH Bildu, the formation with which neither the PSOE nor the PP agreed for years, is now revealed as one of the safest supports of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

This week the parliamentary course has been closed with three marathon days in which, after seven years, the Debate on the State of the Nation has been held and, in a row, a legislative plenary session has been held to capon the project of Democratic Memory Law and the bill to counter reform an article of the organic law of the Judiciary.

Both initiatives now turned out to be of the greatest interest to the Government to the point that their parliamentary processing has been imposed by procedure of maximum urgency and has been settled in

Congress

in just over 24 hours.

In addition, the validation of the second anti-crisis decree has been submitted to the Chamber.

In this case, time was running out because the decrees to prevent them from falling must be approved by the Chamber within 30 days after leaving the oven of the

Council of Ministers

.

In all these pressing matters for the Executive, Pedro Sánchez has had the strong support of the

nationalist votes

.

With them, unlike others, the Government has negotiated and has admitted some of their transcendental amendments.

This has been the case of the Democratic Memory Law, dormant for months in the drawer of texts submitted for amendment, and now it was convenient for the Government to dust off.

The opposition describes the government's pact with the nationalists as "disgusting"

A project for which the ERC bravely fought, which has finally opted for abstention since its aspiration to see the Amnesty law repealed was not fulfilled.

The BNG for its part announced its vote against.

Yesterday, Congress approved its opinion by 173 votes in favor against 159 against and 14 abstentions.

Now the text goes to the Senate and will be definitively approved in September.

Bildu, on the contrary, did support the initiative because in exchange for its support, the Executive agreed to include in the law an additional provision by virtue of which the "Francoist" period suspected of violating human rights is extended until December 31, 1983 , when the Constitution was already five years old and Felipe González's first term in office had been completed.

This has been the disposition of the discord and not only because of its content but above all because of the complacent attitude of the Government when it comes to agreeing with a party, heir, and even led, by those who sowed the Transition and democracy with pain and blood. until eleven years ago.

Thus, a law designed to dignify the victims of the Civil War and the Dictatorship that decidedly promotes, under the umbrella of the State, the search and exhumation of the thousands of bodies buried in mass graves and gutters, has become a text of division and confrontation that yesterday received from the opposition the qualifications of "disgusting", "shameful", "miserable" and "unworthy".

The PP even announced its willingness to repeal it immediately if it manages to reach Moncloa in the next general elections.

The abertzale formation also joined the Government supporting the counter-reform of the law of the Judicial Power designed to untie the hands of the CGPJ although only for the purpose of appointing two magistrates of the Constitutional Court and thus opening the door for the Government to appoint others two and manage to change the majority, currently conservative of the TC for a progressive one, more favorable to pronounce against the resources presented against the social laws of the Government, mainly abortion and euthanasia.

Bildu's support has also included the amendment presented on Wednesday night by the PSOE establishing a fixed term for the CGPJ to proceed with its two appointments.

The deadline is next September 13.

The same pattern of support was repeated yesterday in the validation of the second decree of measures to alleviate the economic effects of the war in Ukraine, in short, to help the "working middle class", as the Government affirms, to face a inflation that already exceeds 10%.

The anti-crisis decree includes several amendments introduced by EH Bildu.

Among them the most important, and which initially generated a problem between the ministries of José Luis Escrivá and María Jesús Montero, is the one that implies an increase of 15% in non-contributory pensions from this month of July and until 31 from December.
