China News Agency, Washington, July 14th. On the 14th local time, US President Biden, who was visiting Israel, said in Jerusalem that he hoped to persuade Iran to resume its implementation of the Iran nuclear deal. Diplomacy is the best way to achieve Iran's goal of no nuclear weapons.

Biden made the remarks at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Lapid.

The two sides discussed the Iranian nuclear issue, the Palestinian-Israeli issue, the normalization of relations between Israel and Arab countries and other issues during the talks that day.

Biden said that the United States and Israel discussed the Iranian nuclear issue that day, which is a vital security interest for Israel and the United States, as well as for the rest of the world.

"I still believe that diplomacy is the best way to achieve this."

In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.

Under the agreement, Iran pledged to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions on Iran.

In May 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of some of the terms of the agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible".

At the end of June this year, under the coordination of the European Union, Iran and the United States held indirect negotiations in Doha, the capital of Qatar, but did not make significant progress.

When asked if he would set a timetable for the Iran nuclear talks, Biden said that the U.S. side has made relevant conditions to the Iranian leader that it is willing to return to the Iran nuclear deal.

"We're waiting for a response from them, I'm not sure when we'll get an answer, but we're not going to wait forever."

Regarding the Palestinian-Israeli issue, Biden reiterated that day that the "two-state solution" is still the best way to solve the Palestinian-Israeli issue. "Palestine and Israeli people are deeply rooted in this land and live side by side in peace and security."

Biden arrived in Israel on the 13th to start his first trip to the Middle East during his tenure.

He will visit the West Bank of Palestine on the 15th, and then he will go to Jeddah, the second largest city in Saudi Arabia, to attend the Gulf Cooperation Council and Iraq, Jordan and Egypt (GCC+3) summits.
