5 killed in New York City violence overnight

  Overseas Network, July 14th. New York City, the United States experienced another night of violence, with gunshots rang out in the Bronx and Brooklyn one after another.

According to ABC and other media reports, in just 4 hours from 9:13 p.m. local time on the 12th to 1:10 a.m. on the 13th, 5 independent shooting incidents occurred, resulting in 5 deaths.

  The first shooting occurred at 9:13 p.m. on the 12th when police found a 26-year-old man shot in the chest outside the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in Brooklyn. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At 10:46 p.m. that night, police found a 31-year-old man with fatal gunshot wounds in a block in the Bronx. He was also pronounced dead at the hospital.

  A few minutes later, in a Brooklyn neighborhood, police found a 29-year-old man shot in the leg, who later died in hospital.

At about 0:30 a.m. on the 13th, police found a 24-year-old man shot in the body at 200 Lincoln Avenue in Brooklyn and later died in the hospital.

  Shortly after 1 a.m. on the 13th, another shooting occurred in the Bronx neighborhood.

Melquan Cooper, 34, was shot in the body and later died in hospital.

During the shooting, multiple suspects fled on two off-road motorcycles, police said.

Police have yet to arrest any suspects.

  Despite a plan to curb gun violence by newly elected Mayor Eric Adams earlier this year, gun violence in the city remains high, with major crimes in the city over the past four weeks, the report said. Incidents were up 33 percent from a year earlier, with homicides up 16 percent.
