Evacuation of 150 people

The largest fire covered 800 hectares of pines near Landiras, about forty kilometers south of Bordeaux, leading to the evacuation of 150 people, according to firefighters and the Gironde prefecture.

180 hectares of old pines destroyed

Near the Dune du Pilat, in the Bassin d'Arcachon, another fire has destroyed 180 hectares of old pines but does not threaten any permanent dwellings, according to firefighters.

Four people were rescued.
