• The July 14 festivities are making a comeback in Marseille

  • New this year, the parade will take place on the Old Port.

  • Elsewhere, balls and other festivities are planned

It's the return of brass bands, beautiful blues, beautiful reds, “ohs”, “ahs”… and eyes riveted on the weather, praying that the mistral doesn't once again spoil the party.

On the occasion of the national holiday,

goes around the events planned for July 14 in Marseille and its region.

The military parade moves to the Old Port

In Marseille, it took place in recent years on the famous Prado.

But for this edition, the traditional parade is moving to the Old Port.

The start of the ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the top of the Canebière, to then head towards the town hall and the Mucem esplanade.

After a review of the troops, a brass band will resound in front of the town hall, before the aerial parade by the patrol of France and the parade of troops on foot and motorized.

The ceremony will end at 6:45 p.m. with a demonstration jump by Toulouse paratroopers in front of the town hall.

Fireworks visible from the Pharo garden

In Marseille, from 10:30 p.m., the traditional fireworks visible from the Old Port will be fired.

Another novelty: the city of Marseille is setting up a space in the Pharo garden to allow all Marseille residents to have an unobstructed view of this spectacle, made up of 13,000 fireworks.

A grand ball in Aix-en-Provence

It's going to guincher at the top of Cours Mirabeau in Aix-en-Provence.

The sub-prefecture is indeed organizing a big swing ball on the evening of July 14.

After a demonstration of swing dancing from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., it's time for dancing with Stompin'Bayou until 9:30 p.m. and The big hop swing until 11:30 p.m.

Fireworks on the Etang de Berre

A little further, in Martigues, the pyromelodic show is back from the Etang de Berre, opposite the open-air theater, which amazes thousands of viewers every year.

The fireworks, fired from 10:30 p.m., will last twenty minutes and will be visible from Ferrières beach to Sainte-Anne.

Bulls and sardines in the Camargue

For those who are a little tired of traditions and pomp, head for Fontvieille, near Arles.

After a lunch under the halls organized by the Taurin Club at 8 a.m., an abrivado will be organized by the Manade Cayzac.

Then go to the town hall square at noon for a citizen aperitif offered by the municipality.

An hour later, the festival committee invites a sardinade under the halls.

The day will end at 5 p.m. with a race in the arenas.
