While a wave of strong heat hits the Gironde, the prefect Fabienne Buccio decided to place the department in orange vigilance (level 3 on a scale of 5) for the risk of fires in the forest, from this Wednesday, at midnight.

Restrictions on fireworks

In this context and with the approach of the national holiday, the firing of all fireworks is prohibited in the predominantly forest municipalities of the Gironde until Monday July 18, 2022 at 8 a.m.

"Only the firing of fireworks carried out on the water or in the direction of the water can be authorized by the mayors after analysis of the risk carried out with the support of the departmental fire and rescue service", specifies the prefect in his press release.

In the most exposed municipalities, the circulation and parking of motor vehicles will be prohibited between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on forest tracks, rural roads, farm roads and cycle paths except for authorized persons.

Logging, silvicultural work, civil engineering, service, carbonization and sawing activities will be suspended between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Recreational and sporting activities will be prohibited between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., except at the leisure center and along the beaches.

The prefecture also recalls that it is prohibited in forests and moors up to a distance of 200 meters to use fire, to smoke and to throw any incandescent debris, to incinerate green waste and to practice remote campsite and bivouac.
