A person died in the fire of a house in Sahurs (Seine-Maritime), near Rouen, Monday July 11.

An investigation was opened and entrusted to the gendarmerie to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy, reports

The fire came from the basement

It was around 3:15 p.m. when firefighters were alerted to smoke coming from a garage in the town.

Once there, emergency services discovered a fire that was spreading to the basement of a house.

The flames were brought under control with two fire hoses.

During the intervention, the victim had been taken care of in cardiorespiratory arrest before being declared dead shortly afterwards.

According to the mayor of the town, it was a 38-year-old woman.
