First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyansky called Ukraine's strike on the settlement of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region a consequence of the supply of foreign weapons to Kyiv.

“Such attacks on civilian targets can only cause strong condemnation.

This is a direct consequence of the supply of weapons by the States to Kyiv, ”RIA Novosti quotes Polyansky.

The State Duma also spoke about the situation.

Mikhail Sheremet, deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the Crimean region, told RIA Novosti that the UN should condemn the United States and Ukraine because of the strike on Novaya Kakhovka.

“There should be a clear position of the UN.

Ukraine began the targeted destruction of the civilian population of the liberated territories, shelling cities and towns with weapons specially supplied by the United States for this purpose.

The United States actually sanctioned the killing of civilians, ”the parliamentarian emphasized.

According to the agency, the UN refrained from commenting on the shelling of Nova Kakhovka.

Representative of the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq told RIA Novosti that the organization opposes "any military action that leads to the destruction of civilian buildings."

In turn, the Pentagon also refused to comment on the situation, redirecting the relevant question to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

On the evening of Monday, July 11, the Ukrainian military attacked Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region.

According to the military-civilian administration (CAA) of the region, the shelling was carried out from American-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

As clarified in the CAA, the nearby hydroelectric power station was not damaged during the shelling.

However, warehouses with mineral fertilizers exploded in the city, a hospital and residential buildings were damaged.

“A blow was dealt to New Kakhovka.

But the hydroelectric power station is in a normal state, nothing threatens.

The blow was also delivered with high-precision weapons of the HIMARS type, ”Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the regional administration, told RIA Novosti shortly after the shelling.

According to various sources, as a result of the shelling, at least seven people were killed and about 70 were injured.

This information was reported by the head of the military-civilian administration (MAC) of the Kakhovka region Vladimir Leontiev.

Earlier, he said that a teenager with a disability died because of the Ukrainian strike.

“It has already been unequivocally confirmed information that a large humanitarian hub was located right a few meters from the missile hit, and a boy remained on duty there for the night, and he is disabled,” said the head of the CAA of the Kakhovka district.

In a conversation with TASS, Leontiev noted that there could be significantly more wounded as a result of the shelling, since many residents were injured from fragments and broken glass.

In his opinion, the number of dead and wounded may increase as the rubble formed after the shelling is cleared.

“We still have to sort out the rubble, there will be dozens of dead, no less,” Leontiev believes.

He added that the force of the explosion knocked out windows in houses located at a distance of several kilometers.

According to Leontiev, people are blocked not only in apartments, but also in private houses, which were damaged by the force of the explosions.

“People who were here at the dachas turned out to be blocked - the frames were warped, capital structures were damaged, and hundreds of people live there in the summer, in the season,” explained the head of the CAA of the Kakhovka district.

In addition, as a result of the shelling, a humanitarian aid warehouse was destroyed, which contained about 35 tons of cargo, including food for civilians.

This was announced to TASS by the head of the humanitarian aid center Natalya Zarya.

“It (humanitarian point. -

) is no more - no food, nothing, everything burned down.

For the city, this was very important, since no one receives either pensions or wages.

About 35 tons remained in the warehouse after the last receipt of humanitarian aid - it was all completely burned down, ”she said.

Dawn added that the point destroyed by the shelling provided food for both the residents of the city and the surrounding villages.

Part of the products was sent to the front line, she noted.
