"Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives" presents the results of its work in New York

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation presented at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations in New York its comprehensive humanitarian achievements and international contributions over the past years in various axes of spreading education and knowledge, relief and humanitarian aid, empowering communities, innovation, future foresight and health care, during a parallel event with the participation of The country's delegation at the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, after the institution's public spending during the past five years amounted to 6.9 billion dirhams and had a positive impact on the lives of tens of millions around the world.

The delegation of the participating Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives also reviewed its projects in the education sector, for which initiatives have been allocated during the past five years 2.1 billion dirhams, the results of its business report for the year 2021, where the total volume of expenditures of the institution amounted to 1.1 billion dirhams, or the equivalent of 300 million dollars. The Deputy Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, delivered the opening speech in which he presented the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation and introduced the participants to the general framework of its humanitarian work around the world.

The results were presented during a special event organized by the Foundation at the headquarters of the UAE Mission to the United Nations, in the presence of heads of international organizations, delegations of participating countries, representatives of permanent international missions, members of the country's mission to the United Nations, as well as members of the Foundation's Board of Trustees.

The participants were briefed on the activities of 30 institutions and initiatives affiliated with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, and their international contributions that support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which fully correspond to the five main pillars of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives of humanitarian and relief aid. health care and disease control, dissemination of education and knowledge, innovation of the future and leadership, and empowerment of societies, by focusing on the initiatives to combat hunger and promote education implemented by the Foundation, foremost of which is the free e-learning “Madrasa” platform, and the “Digital School” initiative aimed at empowering students in remote areas and developing camps, refugee and displacement camps, and a series of food-feeding initiatives that included “10 million meals”, “100 million meals” and the “One Billion Meals” initiative that reached the needy in more than 50 countries.

In turn, Saeed Al Eter, Assistant Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, pointed to the global role played by the initiatives and projects implemented by the Foundation over the years in dozens of less fortunate countries and communities around the world, pointing to the set of qualitative strategic partnerships held by Mohammed bin Rashid Initiatives. United Nations High-level Political Forum: Rebuilding after the COVID-19 pandemic

The United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development is the main platform of the United Nations on sustainable development.

Since its establishment in 2012, it has played a pivotal role in monitoring and reviewing progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the global level.

The Forum meets annually under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council for eight days, including a three-day ministerial segment.

The Forum is also held every four years at the level of Heads of State and Government under the auspices of the General Assembly for two days, to present the contribution of intergovernmental bodies to the 2030 Agenda in general, especially with regard to the Sustainable Development Goals and related goals.

The number of beneficiaries of the humanitarian and relief aid axis in the year 2021 alone reached 22.9 million people.

Food Support Initiative Series

With the growing challenge of hunger and malnutrition threatening more than 800 million people, and the escalation of food security crises, over the past three years, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global initiatives launched a series of campaigns to provide food support, benefiting millions of individuals and families in need, the needy, refugees, displaced people and those affected by disasters. And crises in more than 50 countries around the world, as in the initiative of one billion meals, which was launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Ramadan 2022 and formed a continuation of the initiative of 100 million meals that the Foundation completed in 2021, while the beginning was with the “10 million meals” campaign. Which formed a lifeline for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Health and Disease Prevention


Within the context of health care and disease control, which represents the third axis within the United Nations sustainable development goals, Dr. Manal Taryam, member of the Board of Trustees and CEO of the Noor Dubai Foundation, reviewed the total spending of the Foundation on dozens of therapeutic and preventive initiatives and campaigns, which amounted to 51.2 million dirhams. During 2021, its direct impact reached nearly 15 million people.

Under the axis of health care and disease control, the Al Jalila Foundation to support education and research in the medical fields and the Noor Dubai Foundation, which work to raise the level of health care and scientific and medical research to serve humanity and develop medical sciences, are affiliated with it.

At the conclusion of the event at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in New York, in conjunction with the participation of the country’s delegation in the United Nations Forum, Abdullah Lootah, Vice Chairman of the UAE National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals, presented a set of outputs of the Foundation’s work report, which succeeded despite logistical challenges.
