“We support the Canadian government's decision to return the gas turbine to Germany for use in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

In the short term, the turbine will allow Germany and other European countries to restore their gas reserves, improving energy security and countering Russian attempts to use energy as a weapon,” RIA Novosti quoted the State Department as saying.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habek earlier urged Canada to resolve the issue with the delivery of a turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

After that, Canada decided to return the turbine to Berlin.

At the same time, the general director of the GTS Operator of Ukraine, Serhiy Makogon, called Canada's decision to return the turbine a bad precedent for exemption from sanctions.

Berlin noted that the German government took note of Kyiv's criticism.
