Not everything went as planned this Sunday during the big flea market in Grandvilliers (Oise).

Around 11:30 a.m., several munitions were discovered by the customs services on one of the stands.

It was a 38 mm shell and a fragmentation grenade, says

.

A security perimeter was quickly set up over a hundred meters by the gendarmerie.

Emergency services were also called upon.

On the other hand, the flea market activity was not disrupted in the other areas of the market.

After two hours, the device was lifted.

Demining services were dispatched to the scene from Laon (Aisne).

The specialists only took a few minutes to secure the area, said Jacques Larcher, mayor of Grandvilliers.

Two suspects, one investigation

The seller and a second person were placed in customs detention while determining how such ammunition could have been offered for sale.

The investigation will also determine whether the two individuals will be prosecuted.
