The Tarn firefighters and the SMUR teams were called, Sunday evening around 10:30 p.m., to a house on the Lavaur road, in Castres, for a drowning.

When they arrived, the rescuers took care of a 19-month-old girl who had escaped adult supervision.

She was in cardiopulmonary arrest and the first resuscitation steps were quickly taken.

She was transferred in serious condition to Purpan hospital in Toulouse.

The same day, a man in his thirties fell ill in the swimming pool of a private residence in the Saint-Simon district, within the Pink City.

Last year, between June 1 and August 31, 1,983 drownings were recorded on national territory, including 250 followed by death.
