The US authorities should stop the practice of vilifying China's policy, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

The talks were held on the Indonesian island of Bali.

“The American side should stop spreading slander about the political system of our country, stop slandering China's domestic and foreign policy.

The United States must immediately remove increased duties on Chinese products and lift unilateral sanctions against Chinese companies," TASS quoted the head of Chinese diplomacy as saying.

Wang Yi added that Beijing does not intend to tolerate American interference in the country's domestic politics, and also warned Washington against trying to unleash a new cold war.

“There is no need to hide behind human rights and slogans of democracy in order to infringe on the interests of the PRC,” the Foreign Minister noted.

The diplomat stressed: "In the opinion of many, the United States is subject to more and more serious bouts of Sinophobia."

In turn, Blinken accused China that its position on the situation in Ukraine is not neutral, since Beijing supports Moscow in the UN and "spreads Russian propaganda."

“I again shared with the state adviser our concern about the support that the PRC is providing to Russia,” Blinken said at a press conference following the talks.

Reinforcement of criticism

This is not the first time that Washington has questioned China's position on the Ukrainian issue and accuses Beijing of supporting Russia.

So, earlier, US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns, during a speech at Tsinghua University, demanded that the Chinese authorities stop blaming NATO for the current situation.

However, this demand was rejected in Beijing - a statement on this subject was made by the official representative of the Foreign Ministry, Zhao Lijian.

“False information is spread by the relevant officials from the United States, and not by the Chinese side,” the diplomat retorted, stressing that with regard to the Ukrainian issue, the PRC has always “made independent judgments” and “stood on the side of peace and justice.”

The United States and other G7 countries have already criticized China for its unwillingness to join in the condemnation of Russia's actions and international sanctions against it.

At the same time, a flurry of criticism from Washington began to grow after a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, which took place in mid-June - the American side began to accuse China of directly supporting the Russian Federation.

Commenting on the conversation between the two leaders, Moscow stressed that after Vladimir Putin "outlined his fundamental assessments of the situation in Ukraine and the tasks being solved during the special military operation," Xi Jinping pointed to the legitimacy of Moscow's actions.

“The President of the People's Republic of China noted the legitimacy of the actions taken by Russia to protect the fundamental national interests in the face of challenges to its security created by external forces,” the Kremlin’s press service said in a statement.

They also noted that Russia and China "act from a common or very close position, consistently uphold the fundamental principles of international law, and seek to build a truly multipolar and fair system of international relations."

Competitive Model

At the same time, rivalry between the PRC and the US along NATO lines is intensifying.

Recall that the North Atlantic Alliance at the summit in Madrid at the end of June adopted a new strategic concept, which states that China's actions pose a challenge to the interests and security of the countries of the alliance.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned the move and said NATO's new strategic concept "denigrates China's foreign policy, makes irresponsible remarks about China's normal military development and national defense policy," and encourages ideological bias, confrontation, and a Cold War mentality.

"China is seriously concerned about this and strongly opposes it," Zhao Lijian said.

The US expert community has reacted to the recently growing tension between China and the West.

So, Associated Press journalist Matt Lee, in his commentary on the results of the G20 ministerial summit, noted that the world was divided into blocks.

“However, in the context of the deepening split between East and West, initiated on the one hand by China and Russia, and on the other by the United States and Europe, the possibility of reaching a consensus remained ephemeral.

) neither a group photo nor a final communiqué was taken, unlike the summits of previous years, ”the journalist notes.

According to the head of the sector of economics and politics of China, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations.

EAT.

Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Lukonin, the United States is trying to make the most of the current situation in order to continue its strategy to contain the PRC.

“The United States is making every effort to slow down China's development.

For this, a variety of methods are used, ranging from economic ones - this is the restriction of trade, investment, the sale to China of goods that contain new technologies or some kind of American intellectual property, and on the other hand, political methods are used - anti-Chinese alliances are created in the Asia-Pacific region, - explained the political scientist.

In addition, as part of the struggle at the political level, China is accused of authoritarianism and human rights violations, Lukonin recalled.

However, at the same time, Washington is still afraid of burning all the bridges and therefore declares the need for contacts with the Chinese side, the expert noted.

“Sooner or later this may lead to some kind of political crisis, but both sides understand that any clash will cause irreparable damage.

Therefore, channels of communication are preserved.

China is demonstrating its readiness to reach agreements that do not affect its fundamental interests, ”says the analyst.

The tension between the United States and its allies, on the one hand, and China, on the other, has been growing for quite a long time due to the economic success of the PRC and the conviction of the Chinese side that it can replace the United States as a leading world power only thanks to this component, the expert noted in a comment to RT Center for Research on the Problems of World Socialism at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Yevgeny Grachikov.

“This is the “Chinese threat” to the world from the position of the West, which calls the PRC a revisionist power, indicating by this that it wants to change the existing world order.

China, of course, was not going to revise this procedure, Beijing thought that it was really possible to get a “sharehold of voting shares” in international organizations and structures by peaceful means, but neither the United States nor Western countries were going and are not going to give them to China, ”said expert.

He recalled that Beijing is actively involved in the development of alternative international institutions such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.

The United States, on the other hand, cannot accept the existence of the Chinese model of development for ideological reasons, Grachikov believes.

“Therefore, claims are already being made against the leadership of the Communist Party of China and personally against Xi Jinping.

In this sense, these contradictions are insurmountable, just as the contradictions between the Soviet Union and the United States were insurmountable precisely in the sphere of ideology, ”the analyst stated.

According to him, now there is a process not of a split, but of the separation of the world community into various political and economic blocs, which has significantly accelerated with the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

“This process went slowly, on the rise, and only this year, when Russia was left with no choice, a special military operation was launched.

In China, it is viewed as a revolution, as a rebellion against the hegemony of the United States and the collective West, which establishes some incomprehensible rules that they themselves invent and try to impose on the rest of the world, ”the analyst explained.

While the West is trying to isolate Russia, Moscow and Beijing believe that Brussels and Washington are isolating themselves from the rest of the world by imposing sanctions, Grachikov argues.

Moreover, from his point of view, the actions of the United States and Europe only accelerated the unification of other states, which, in particular, is evidenced by the recent initiative to expand the composition of the BRICS.

“We are seeing the same thing with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, there is already a large list of candidates for membership.

There is a consolidation of other countries with which Russia has good relations and which do not support the United States either in anti-Russian sanctions or in many other issues, ”Grachikov concluded.
