On July 9, the National Museum of China celebrated its 110th birthday.

In 110 years, the blue thread of the road was gone; in 110 years, the fire was passed down; in 110 years, the accumulation of wealth; in 110 years, it was still youthful.

The century-old changes of the National Museum have witnessed the development of China's museum industry, reflected the course of China's modern archaeological industry, and recorded the pace of New China's courageous progress in living up to the times.

Around the 9th, the National Museum successively held a series of activities to celebrate his birthday and to report his work to the party and the people.

Inheritance of fire and fire to keep the context

From June 29th, the National Expo will successively launch "Continuing Success - Luo Bozhao's Donation Exhibition", "Accumulation and Widespread - National Museum Archaeological Achievement Exhibition", and "Katha Shigehui - National Museum Cultural Protection Achievement Exhibition" (tentatively scheduled Name), from the three aspects of collection collection, archaeological excavation, and cultural relics protection, it tells the history of the National Museum in the past 110 years of keeping the context, seeking truth and being pragmatic, and pioneering and innovating.

At present, the National Museum of China has more than 1.43 million collections, which has become an important collection and display platform for the representative material evidence of Chinese civilization for more than 5,000 years, and has formed a collection system of various types and characteristics.

The construction of this system is inseparable from the generous donations and enthusiastic support of enthusiastic people from all walks of life.

Luo Bozhao is one of the outstanding representatives.

Luo Bozhao, formerly known as Wenjiong and No. Muyuan, was born in Ba County, Sichuan (now Banan District, Chongqing), and is a famous modern numismatician and coin collector in my country. ", has the reputation of "Northern Zhang Bashu Luo".

In September 1957, Luo Bozhao donated his collection of 15,431 cultural relics to the Beijing History Museum (now the National Museum of China). By 1965, he had donated more than 70 cultural relics (sets).

The coins donated by Luo Bozhao are from ancient times to the present, and both at home and abroad. They are of extremely fine quality and rich in editions. Together with other cultural relics donated by the Quan family, they have laid the foundation for the coin collection of the National Expo.

Today, ancient Chinese coins have become a major category in the collection of the National Museum of China, with a large amount and complete categories, and the number of first-class coins ranks first at home and abroad.

Opening on June 29th, "The Fire Continues - Luo Bozhao Donation Exhibition", selected 170 pieces (sets) of cultural relics and treasures donated by Luo Bozhao, especially more than 140 coin collections, displayed systematically in chronological order, so that the audience can subtly Touching the development history of Chinese coins, I can also deeply feel the life pursuit and family and country feelings of a generation of famous collectors.

Luo Bozhao is just one of many cultural relic donors.

They deeply love Chinese civilization, guard the national context, and have the courage to turn private affairs into public affairs.

There is also a group of donors represented by Stanley Ho, who single-handedly brought the cultural relics lost overseas and donated them to the country for free.

They are here for their motherland and love and nostalgia for Chinese culture.

They used practical actions to show the world the profound truth that "a strong nation will strengthen cultural relics, and if a country's movement is strong, culture will flourish".

In a sense, people of insight like Luo Bozhao and Stanley Ho are an important driving force for the development of museums in my country.

Boundary Road, Blue Strands of Wind and Rain

With the construction and development of the National Expo, the archaeology of the National Expo has gone through more than a hundred years.

In the "Accumulation and Diversity - Exhibition of Archaeological Achievements of the National Museum" opened on July 1, the reporter saw the arduous journey of the archaeologists of the National Museum of "Going to the poor and falling to Huangquan, finding things with hands and feet", as well as many important achievements. The results have also experienced the inheritance and promotion of the spirit of rigor, perseverance, and "choosing one career for the rest of your life" among generations of archaeologists.

In 1921, almost at the same time as the excavation of the Yangshao site in Henan, the excavation of the ancient city began in Julu, Hebei, which opened the prelude to the archaeology of the National Expo.

After the founding of New China, especially since the reform and opening up, the National Museum of Archaeology has developed rapidly and flourished.

From Dongguan, Yuanqu Ancient City, Shanxi in the 1980s, to Mianchi Bancun, Henan in the 1990s; from Zhoujiazhuang, Jiangxian County, Shanxi in the early 21st century, to the "early Qin Culture and Xirong Culture Archaeological Survey, Archaeological Survey, Xirong Culture", which lasted for more than 20 years. Excavation and Research"; from the Xinglong Yumin Cultural Site in Kangbao, Hebei, which started in 2018, to the Xiwubi Site in Jiangxian County, Shanxi, which was rated as one of the "Top Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China" in 2020... These archaeological achievements in the exhibition, It is just a silhouette of the archaeologists of the National Expo ploughing the fields.

In the field of underwater, remote sensing and aerial photography archaeology in China, the National Expo is undoubtedly the leading goose.

As early as 1987, under the advocacy of the then curator Yu Weichao, the Underwater Archaeology Research Office of the China History Museum was established, which was the first of its kind.

From 1992 to 1995, for four years, the archaeological team composed of the first generation of Chinese underwater archaeologists conducted underwater archaeological excavations on the Yuan Dynasty shipwreck in Sandaogang, Suizhong, Liaoning Province.

Yu Weichao said that the excavation "is the first formal underwater archaeological work that my country has accomplished entirely by itself", and it was also included in the "Top Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China in 1993".

In the following 30 years, underwater archaeology has flourished, covering many waters in China, and the discovery, overall salvage and protection excavation of "Nanhai No. 1" is the epitome and model of my country's underwater archaeology for more than 30 years.

In 1995, Guobo established an aerial photography archaeology working group, becoming the first specialized remote sensing archaeological institution in my country.

Their aerial archaeological investigations in areas such as the ancient city of the Han and Wei Dynasties in Luoyang, Henan, and the ancient city site of Chifeng in Inner Mongolia have greatly compensated for the inadequacy of field archaeology, and provided a large number of invaluable resources for the planning and protection of large sites, as well as the application of the Yuanshangdu site. or missing data.

Since the new era, the means and methods of the National Expo to carry out archaeological work have been significantly enriched.

They are active in the application of scientific and technological innovation, and in 2018, they established the Institute of Scientific and Technological Archaeology in the Academy of Archaeology. In addition to the past remote sensing and aerial photography archaeology, the research direction has also expanded to animal, plant, physical anthropology, metallurgical archaeology, isotope analysis, etc. .

In addition, Guobo actively develops environmental archaeology, and established the Environmental Archaeology Institute, dedicated to the study of the evolution of coastal and inland natural environment and its relationship with human economy, society and culture.

Focusing on major projects such as the "Belt and Road" construction and the origin of Chinese civilization, they have successively carried out archaeological work on the ruins of Ushtur and Yuzigan in Xinjiang. , Representative evidence of the formation and changes of the ancient Silk Road.

Mutual learning between civilizations

The National Expo is the cultural living room of the country and an important window for exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese civilization and other civilizations in the world.

The reporter learned that many international partners sent congratulations through letters, videos, etc., and nearly 100 partners from 33 countries on five continents participated in a series of activities, offering wonderful content to the global audience.

In 2020, under the background of the epidemic hindering offline international exchanges, China Expo and 15 national museums in 14 countries on 5 continents successfully held the "Global Museum Collection Display Online Relay" event, which received enthusiastic responses at home and abroad.

From July 6th to 11th, 33 top museums at home and abroad will gather in the cloud, and jointly hold an online relay of global museum collections exhibition with the theme of "Hand in Hand: Sharing the Beauty of World Civilization".

10 domestic museum directors will tell the story of China together, and together with 24 international museum directors from five continents, they will showcase the splendid achievements of human civilization with about 150 precious collections, convey and promote equality, mutual learning, dialogue, An inclusive view of civilization.

The "Global Museum Curator Forum" is a high-end dialogue mechanism for museums around the world established by the China Expo based on the "Belt and Road" initiative in April 2019, and it is also a major brand of the China Expo for foreign exchanges.

The second forum will be held on July 11 in the form of a combination of online and offline. More than 100 museum directors and representatives from 27 countries on five continents, as well as representatives of international organizations such as UNESCO, are expected to attend the forum. In-depth discussions on the theme of "Change and Persistence: Museums' Responsibility for the Times" will help global museums to grasp and respond to the opportunities and challenges in the new situation.

International exchange exhibitions are an important way for museums to "tell China's stories well" to the world.

During this exhibition, China National Expo will also present three international exchange exhibitions to the global audience: From July 10th to October 9th, China National Expo will cooperate with the Ministry of Culture of the Italian Republic to hold the "Origin of Italy - Ancient Roman Civilization Exhibition".

At that time, Chinese audiences will see 308 pieces (sets) of precious cultural relics from Italy ranging from the 4th century BC to the 1st century AD such as bronzes, sculptures, pottery, coins and other precious cultural relics in the exhibition hall of the National Expo, and appreciate the collision and fusion of Italian multiculturalism.

From July 26 to September 25, the China-Korea-Japan Ancient Bronze Ware Exhibition (exhibition name to be determined) was held at the National Expo. The beauty of ancient bronze craftsmanship in the Three Kingdoms systematically presents the traditional culture, etiquette civilization and technological and artistic achievements of the three countries with their own characteristics.

In addition, the "Taste of China - Ancient Chinese Food Culture Exhibition" curated by the National Expo has opened at the National Museum of Liechtenstein on June 8.

The exhibition systematically explains the development, changes and cultural connotations of ancient Chinese diets, allowing the world to understand and perceive the blood and interest of the Chinese nation.

The exhibition will run until August 21.

In the exhibition hall 11 of the National Expo North, domestic audiences can also see the same exhibition, and appreciate the wisdom and dignity of life revealed between the spoon and the meal.

After more than 100 years of ups and downs, the National Museum of China has developed into the flagship of the Chinese museum industry.

It records the footprints of the ancient civilization of the Chinese nation and shows the glorious history of our great motherland's history, culture and social development.

This is the spiritual home for Chinese sons and daughters to inherit civilization and open up the future. It is an important window for the dialogue between Chinese civilization and world civilization, and it is also a magnificent palace to display the entire human civilization.

To trace the origin is to look to the future; to look back to the past is to look further.

Hundred and ten are still youthful!

The National Expo is striding forward, marching towards tomorrow with the rhythm of youth...
