China News Agency, Beijing, July 10th: Taiwan authorities ignore the safety of agricultural products, and the people on the island may become the biggest victims

After the mainland detected the new coronavirus on the packaging of white-haired fish and horse mackerel imported from Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong have also recently detected the new coronavirus in many batches of mangoes imported from Taiwan.

Faced with repeated occurrences of the same problems, the Taiwan authorities accused the mainland of "political suppression", but failed to take practical measures to solve the problem of agricultural product safety.

If things go on like this, the island's farmers and fishermen may become the biggest victims of the "anti-land" policy of the DPP authorities.

It is an indisputable fact that the relevant batches of agricultural and fishery products exported from Taiwan to the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao have safety problems. The failure of the Taiwan authorities to rectify the problem is an important reason for the current situation.

Aside from the recent "new crown mango", the mainland has not long ago detected the new crown virus on the packaging of various fish imported from Taiwan.

Since last year, mainland customs have detected banned and restricted drugs from multiple batches of Taiwanese grouper, but they have not been taken seriously by Taiwan, and banned drugs have still been detected after repeated notifications.

All along, the mainland has firmly defended the rights and interests of people's lives and health.

Recently, the epidemic situation in Hong Kong and Macau has been repeated, and the epidemic prevention measures should not be sloppy.

Therefore, it is reasonable and necessary to suspend the import or destroy the relevant batches of problematic products, which is a manifestation of the principle of people first in the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

As the most important export market of agricultural and fishery products in Taiwan, the suspension of the import of Taiwan-related products from the mainland will cause losses to agricultural and fishery practitioners.

Against this background, the Taiwan authorities responded to the people's urgency and needs, reflected on their deficiencies, and took practical measures to help solve the problem. However, the Taiwan authorities did not pay any attention to the issue of agricultural product safety, let alone make rectifications. This also led to public dissatisfaction and criticism.

A Taiwanese fruit farmer said that the authorities can do a good job of pre-testing. In this way, if the new crown virus is detected before export, it can be dealt with immediately. If it is confirmed, even if there is a problem with the export, Taiwan has the basis to refute.

In the face of doubts, the Taiwan authorities avoided talking about the issue, but accused the mainland of "unscientific testing" and said they would diversify exports to Japan and other markets.

The fact is that the Taiwan authorities' slogan of "reducing their dependence on the mainland market" has been empty for many years, but the result is exactly the opposite.

However, the DPP authorities have been inconsistent in responding to similar issues.

In June last year, New Zealand suspended the import of mangoes and lychees imported from Taiwan because of problems.

Comparing the response of the mainland authorities with the same measures, it fully exposes their ideological prejudice.

At present, the number of newly confirmed cases and deaths of the new crown in Taiwan remains high, and the pressure of rising prices on the island continues to increase.

It is not difficult to find that the DPP authorities have already fallen into a contradictory situation between "anti-China" and meeting the needs of the people.

The safety of agricultural products, which the Taiwan authorities ignore, may eventually make the Taiwanese people the biggest victims.
