The Iranian Foreign Ministry said today, Saturday, that the plans of the United States and Israel to conclude a joint defense agreement with Arab countries to confront the threat of Iranian drones and missiles is a provocative step and poses a threat to Iran's national and regional security, and will only lead to an increase in tension in the region.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry added that America does not realize the realities of the region and is only working to demonize Tehran and sow discord among the countries of the region.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry described the positions of the US National Security Council as ill-considered and only considering Israel's interests, noting that pumping weapons into the region does not bring security.

"The entry of foreigners into the region will not bring security and stability, but it is in itself the main cause of regional tension and disputes," official media quoted the ministry's spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, as saying.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed Tehran's commitment to the good-neighborly policy, and said that achieving stability is achieved through collective cooperation, and that sustainable regional security requires advancing inter-state understanding.

Sources familiar with the plan said that the United States and Israel were seeking to lay the foundation for a security alliance with Arab countries that would link air defense systems to combat Iranian drone and missile attacks in the Middle East.

Biden's visit to the region

On the other hand, Iranian Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib said that US President Joe Biden's visit to the region this month is not just about giving speeches and reaching agreements.

In a speech in Tehran, he added that the visit means "America's official return to the region with the centralization of the Zionist entity, after the failure of all their plans against Iran."

He explained that dozens of intelligence services in the world are active against Iran and are working to exploit the economic demands of the people to inflame them against the government, and spread despair and dissatisfaction with the performance of the Islamic regime in the country, as he put it.
